Forgiveness
What do I need forgiveness for?
This is something that many people ask because they do not see themselves as having done anything wrong. When I became a Christian almost 15 years ago I asked the same question what have I done wrong that I need forgiving for? I haven't killed, stolen etc. And this is very possibly true the majority of people stay inside man's law all their lives and do not in that sense do anything to need forgiving for.But God's law is different he sees all things wrong such as gossip, how many of us have never said a bad thing about anyone in our lives. Lies also are another thing that grieve God, if you really think about it have you never lied in your life?.
Perhaps now it can be seen that there are many things that we do in everyday life that are not acceptable to God. "The way of the wicked (sinners) is an abomination to the Lord. But he loves him who follows righteousness" (proverbs15:9 NKJV) God cannot look upon a sinful person, when Jesus died on the cross God had to turn away from his son as he took on the sins of the world "About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, C lama sabachthani?" -- which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"> (Matthew 27:46.NKJV) Forgiveness returns us to a pure state. Clean in God's sight.
Other sins include pride, hate, malice just carry on thinking of all the things that drag your heart down and you will see how many things we do often unknowingly that grieve God and weigh us down. This obviously isn't an exhaustive list, sit for a moment and ask God what he would reveal to you as a sin that you yourself have not noticed within you.
